Brought up in a sincere academic environment, she entered into the competitive world of generating doctors engineers etc, where she was also infused with the thought of becoming one of them but her talent could not dominate over the rat race of profession. In 2004, after struggling with the stereotypical perception of choosing dance as a profession & after a long period of efforts to align her family with her passion and quest for dance (and her struggle to win over conservative orthodox thoughts that DANCING is not meant for a girl from cultured family) she emerged out as a first & only  National & International classical Kathak dance artist from Haryana.

Shalini has been recently chosen as one of the role models for "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao"  mission by the Haryana Government.

Artist's Note:

Since childhood I have been inclined towards Indian Classical Music & Dance and this interest helped me to bag CCRT Scholarship at the age of 13 years in Hindustani Classical vocal category. I used to get mesmerized by the up & down notes, and rhythmic patterns within a dance number or musical composition. I think I got attracted towards the abstraction of these art forms. Being passionate to quench my constant thirst of knowledge & curiosity for this dance form, I realized Kathak Dance chose me & transformed into a professional performer from a little curious child.  This art form with delicate & sharp movements, intricacies of footwork, and gyrations with energy, the communication, and the informality of this form suits my personality which provides multi-dimensional space for creativity.  I believe that being with performing classical dance is a path to self-realization. 'The artist who is passionately dedicatedly involved in this form can able to strive for perfection  through hard work '
